Portrait or Personal Image - SimplyMaura

Life goes by in the blink of an eye... sometimes we have to simply slow down, take a deep breath and look around to appreciate all the small details in the world that surrounds us. This is when I set up my tripod and pick a lens.

I would like to welcome you to my world as I see it through my viewfinder.

I find peace in the beauty of landscapes & seascapes as well as finding thrill with urban & suburban life. I enjoy candids and all types of action photography. If you ask me my "style" of photography, I'd have to say it's what i'm feeling in the moment... Photography is simply a full expression of who I am and how I feel at any given moment in time...

In life, people come and go... but as they pass thru, they leave bits and pieces that create who I am and what I see...some of those same people have no clue just how profoundly they have had an impact on me and what I see. That is what I share with you here...

I live in Connecticut and fully appreciate the beauty of New England and all that this New England lifestyle has to offer. I feel fortunate to have four spectacular seasons which I invite the world to see. I enjoy sharing ideas, methods and techniques with others who enjoy this same passion.

Kids, sorry, but Grad School is out of the question. I'll need that new D4 or D800 or whatever is out at the time... plus a sweet new lens to boot. To Brad Bartmess (an official Nikon guy) thanks for getting me started with my first D50! Hey Brad... I'm still working hard at keeping Nikon in business thru B&H.

Very special thanks goes to Bryan F. Peterson who, among other things, taught me how to see, express and capture the right creative exposure. Always remember to turn around and look behind you...otherwise you might miss something pretty damn amazing! Another thing I have learned is that to get a good shot I have to get close. If I want a really great shot, I have to get closer!

Training & Resources:

Brad Bartmess: That first night...hours at your dining room table...whoa! and now i'm pretty fluent in that foreign language! (thank you, pal!)
